Oh my god. I just voted and it totally seemed to work. Tom is like a superhero of geeky computer awesomeness. He has channeled his powers for good.

uh, is the zoo going to come kill us now?

Posted by: catherine on August 24, 2005 04:20 PM

Not until I write a script flooding the site with butterstick votes.

(okay, I won't really do that)

Posted by: tom on August 24, 2005 04:21 PM

Vote for me, vote for me!!!!

Thank you, Tom!!!!

Posted by: Butterstick on August 24, 2005 04:29 PM

You're so my hero for doing that.

Posted by: chrisafer on August 24, 2005 04:29 PM

Ditto. Catherine really needs to add this link in an update to the DCist post.

I dunno. Dragon mountain is pretty badass.

Posted by: Ramar on August 24, 2005 05:13 PM

That truly is the internet being used for good. Three cheers for Butterstick.

Don't look now (or do!)...Wonkette's on the Butterstickbandwagon too...

Posted by: Jon on August 25, 2005 10:07 AM

I bow my head to your 1337ness, oh great one. Oh I certainly hope enough people actually vote for butterstick to show up on their results... That'd just be funny.

Posted by: James Hare on August 25, 2005 10:31 AM

The Post is pwned!!

Posted by: Kriston on August 25, 2005 10:34 AM

That rocks so very, very hard. Butterstick forever!

Posted by: John on August 25, 2005 11:15 AM

Look at the picture. The little thing is obviously a Butterstick. This is a wonderful cause.

Posted by: Corey on August 25, 2005 12:12 PM

Butter stick is great. This is an animal we will love for years to come! He's our little BUTTER STICK!

Posted by: on August 25, 2005 12:16 PM

Well, the zoo seems to have gotten wise and fixed the script so that when you send it bad data it goes back to the survey page and asks you to mark one of the allowed selections. So now we just have to write somebody in government and let them know this travesty! I demand my democratic right to vote to name the panda butterstick! I mean, it'd be funny if they'd at least written about it. Instead, they just ignore it. Obviously, they were getting quite a few of the votes for butterstick, so why are they trying to ignore us?

Posted by: James Hare on August 25, 2005 01:23 PM

It's all well and good until we are the poor hippies that wake up in 15 years and realize we have a child name Moon Fry, and think, "It seemed like a good idea at the time..."

Posted by: DC1974 on August 25, 2005 01:34 PM

You should tally up the results and send it to them. If they see how many people want Butterstick, the "cant" ignore us!

Posted by: Matt on August 25, 2005 01:36 PM

Well, it was a good ride while it lasted.

Way to stick it to the man, Tom.

Posted by: Matt F on August 25, 2005 02:14 PM

You should tally up the results and send it to them

I would, but I don't have em. When you hit submit the resulting conversation was purely between your web browser and the zoo's server; wasn't involved at all.

Posted by: tom on August 25, 2005 02:30 PM

I caught mention of this on Wonkeette and immediately came over to vote.

He ain't heavy, he's our BUTTERSTICK!

Posted by: AKat on August 25, 2005 05:45 PM

Ah! Butterstick isn't working! :(

Posted by: Jii on August 25, 2005 09:32 PM

YOU CAN VOTE ANYWAY. Go to the site and pick the least stupid of the Zoo's unimaginative choices. Then put your e-mail address as and vote. They'll get the message.

Posted by: Fortuna on August 26, 2005 07:59 AM

Hey I just voted and it appeared to be working. It even thanked me! ha!

Posted by: Asrai on September 6, 2005 07:03 AM

Hey, voting worked for me!

OK, am I the only one watching lil' butterstick 24/7? I am not obsessed and can stop any time I want. Really. OK, maybe. Has anyone started a Butterstick fan club??

Posted by: Laurie Williams on September 15, 2005 12:00 PM
