these shoes for fall: hideous or TOTALLY AWESOME?

sometimes it's a fine line. and i've been at work for 10 hours now so i'm not really clear in the head.

I hear you with the sometimes it's hard to tell business. Ugly chic can be confusing.

As for these specific shoes -- I vote nay, but only because I am morally opposed to platforms. If you found the same color/toe design in a non-platform variety, I'd be all for it. On the other hand, we have already established that you are way girlier than me, so if you like them, go for it.

FUG. trust me.

i hate platforms.

but i also buy clothes at forever 21, so what the hell do i know.

I like 'em. Catherine, I will always be here to help validate your wanton shoe wanting.

I have a pair of black slingbacks that have a slight platform sole. I love them so much and they look even better on.

oh no! i was *just* about to agree with the detractors - thinking that the 10-hour workday combined with three hours of sleep had clouded my judgment - but here comes along missy, whose taste i adore. WHAT TO DO.

I like them too, in theory, but the heels are a bit concerning. I think it's the kind of shoe you'd have to see on to be sure it's doable.

you are the voice of reason, carey. i shall find a nine west and try them on! and then be appalled/enthralled as i usually am with these kind of shoes. but we shall see.

Yes, I, too, am very concerned about the heel, specifically, the part of the heel that evokes " crotch of too-small pantyhose at the end of a long day." I'm thinking this is not a feeling you'd purposefully want to evoke?

Haha, sarah b makes a very good point. The heels are a little weird and, while I like weird, they could be too weird.

all excellent points, to be sure. i'm 95% convinced they're' a terrible idea, but i think i will be near a nine west this weekend so i can try them out. maybe i can even PHOTOBLOG the event. try to hide your excitment.

I like the idea of them, but it looks as though they may make your feet look huge. Also I hate the heel.

Posted by: Michael on August 1, 2006 08:09 AM

Your feet will look like twin oil tankers. Do you want your feet to be terrorist targets???

Posted by: Jake on August 1, 2006 09:19 AM

i know, i know. y'all are just lucky i didn't praise these shoes.

Posted by: catherine on August 1, 2006 09:36 AM

which, to make clear, i wouldn't. they are truly hideous.

Posted by: catherine on August 1, 2006 09:39 AM

"Sassy" is not quite how I would describe those. It would look like a tribble latched onto your foot.

Posted by: Matt F on August 1, 2006 10:45 AM

for only $710, you too can look like you're wearing tribbles.

They look a little CEO by day, CEO wanting to be a stripper by night to me.

I have to vote nay on these. If the heel were different, maybe they would have been OK.

Posted by: Dottie on August 1, 2006 10:49 AM

I'd love those if they weren't fuzzy.

By the way, both the wine-colored suede shoes AND the Louboutin's got the thumbs up at Fashion Binge.

Posted by: Missy on August 4, 2006 07:23 PM

that's where i saw them! i should have hat tipped. consider this a retroactive hat tip.
