fame!
[D.C.]
posted by catherine / June 14, 2006 / best baseball game ever tonight (thanks kriston!) - i mean, except for the nats losing. a lot. because, in addition to delicious beer and sausages and free little american flags and stuff, we had TWO FAMOUS SIGHTINGS. (ahem, for d.c.) outside, while tommy and i were lounging around on the armory steps, we saw MARK WARNER. be still my heart. it was actually our second sighting - we'd seen him apple-picking in charlottesville once. second sighting: david gregory of nbc. not as awesome, but still kind of cool. people in the bleachers actually recognized him. d.c. is such a dorkily awesome town.

Last night somebody approached me and asked if I was Amanda Mattos -- they recognized me from DCist. I wonder if somebody out there today is writing a blog post about their run in with local (lmnop list) celebrity, Amanda Mattos. 100% chance the answer to that is no, but I think I can officially start to complain about the paparazzi.
get used to it! when i wrote for dcist, two, count 'em TWO, people recognized me. fame is not easy, my friend.
TWO, people recognized me
That's not even counting the (nameless) people who recognized you but, struck mute by your fame, did not introduce themselves.
Ahem.
I had my first Andy Stern sighting earlier in the day too, I should point out. Which is probably only exciting to me and other ED folks. Still, adds to the famous-for-DC jam-packedness of the day.
Come to think of it, I think a Senator dropped by our meeting yesterday morning, but only long enough to drop Ted Turner and Hillary Clintons' names. I didn't get a good look at him or hear the introduction, so I'm not sure which one it was...
Wirth! Google says it was Senator Wirth. Sounds plausible.
