I used punctuation and spelling as my initial screening mechanism when I was looking for a third roommate on craigslist. Might not be completely fair, but you have to have some winnowing process.
The great part is that you are ALLOWED to screen for mis-spellings. When I was looking for a roommate, a guy (presumably building off the fact that I mentioned being in law school) replied with "per say" in his email. I died. Then I deleted it.
heh, awesome. thing is i don't really care who gets the apartment as long as they're semi-normal since i won't be living there. but i just checked my email and i have like SIXTY EMAILS. i don't know how to narrow it down.
another rule: i am not leasing you my apartment if your email is pookie7134.
Yes, it is wrong. They might be in their new media storytelling class getting barked at by their teacher about how they're not going to find dreamweaver in their gmail. Sometimes, you have to write an email under intense time pressures.
