just fyi, there is a likelihood that i will be coming to you straight from hottlanta this summer, as i just got offered a fellowship with cnn.com there. this is both exciting and terrifying in many ways. more details to come! the one for-sure positive: the stress diet i've been running on since the beginning of the quarter just racheted itself up a few dozen notches. my goal of losing 10 pounds for a june wedding is now attainable! thank goodness for the little things.

Wow, congratulations! That is fantastic. I have one old friend and one crazy aunt in Atlanta. You are welcome to either.

Try the Flying Biscuit for breakfast.

i used to live there, and i love it.

but just to be clear: no one in "hotlanta" actually calls it that. except for may ironically, and even then with something of a cringe.
oh, i take that back: some radio dj's probably do.

i refuse to call it anything but hotlanta!

The Flying Biscuit is great, but beware long lines on Sundays. I have a friend who works at Cartoon Network who's about your age and knows all the hipster inside info if you need a contact.

She's also on a Roller Derby squad.

what kind of work does the fellowship entail?

Posted by: matty on May 12, 2006 04:39 PM

basically you are an "associate producer" at cnn.com - publishing stories and photos online, working on online feature packages, etc. at least that's why they tell me. apparently they are soon launching a citizen-journalism section as well, which would be cool to work on. they hope to have that up by hurricane season, cause that's what they want it to be initially used for.

Scott, you know someone who works at Adult Swim? That is impossibly cool. Yes, we definitely need to meet them.

holy crap scott, your friend could kick my ass. but that's awesome, thanks for the offer.

We'll have to hook you two up. Her father and mother are good friends of mine and she gave us a tour of her Turner offices while we were up there recently. She's actually very nice, don't let the roller derby intimidate you. :-)
