besides my head TOTALLY EXPLODING after crash won for best picture (see sarah b for my basic reaction), i basically wanted to throw up during the rest of the oscars because of the repeated, condescending references to how you can't, like, enjoy a movie at all unless you are watching it in a glorious big-screen theater and also buying 10s of bags of popcorns and 12 sodas. it's not MAGICAL that way, don't you see?
did that make anyone else want to punch in the tv screen? gah. am never going to the theater again. not that i can afford it, anyways.
however, in other news, i found jon stewart delightful. three cheers for him making the oscars funny.

I dunno. Despite my boyfriend having a huge-arse tv with stadium seating couches (by the brilliant carpentry of his roommate) and surround sound, I still have the desire to experience certain films at the theater (action movies like King Kong). The dramas and romantic comedies I can save for dvd rental.
It gives you an opportunity to actually "do something" rather than add to your couch's butt imprint every single night.
however, I did think the montages were silly and I read a funny observation that all the old clips they showed to embrace the movie theater-going experience were only movies you can see on DVD.

that's the thing - i mean, i do too. but i don't need the industry ORDERING me to do so. instead of reminding me why i love seeing films in the theater, which they could have done in a more organic fashion, it was like a condescending command. so they can suck it!
Yeah, it was very weird, and I and the folks I was watching with remarked on it at the time. But it's sort of a nice change: instead of berating us for piracy, they're now begging us not to buy HDTVs. It's totally hopeless and won't land anyone in court, so I give it a thumbs up. At least it gives those MPAA guys something to do.
I guess that didn't bother me so much as everyone thanking their studios, Brand-Face-Forward!, and the fact that Dolly Parton, who is Awesome Beyond Belief, really did look fresh off the operating table.
it's true. Dolly is great, but looked pretty scary. The consensus was that that's about as good as you can look at 60 -- but it ain't that good.
i submit: michelle williams's dress looked fine!
i agree - i have read some hating on it, but i really liked it. the only other dress i liked at all was salma hayek's. the rest: blah.

don't know personally, but read - ed's little brother was friends with some of my friends in d.c. (kriston and susan) and i think they read her site and i started reading her site and etc etc.
