planning ahead

alright, my hipster friends. let's face facts: i'm going to be a lonely girl this summer. most of my friends will be in the d.c. headquarters of medill, doing a reporting quarter that i've opted out of because a) i am a sucky reporter and b) i plan on doing an as-yet-to-be-determined new media independent study. chicago is supposed to be lovely in the summer, but i am afraid i will be spending it sipping solitary gin and tonics on my balcony, staring wistfully off into the sunset.

but you, yes you, can change this potentially pathetic scenario by planning a visit to little old me. especially in light of the fact that it's just been announced that the second annual pitchfork ne intonation music festival will be taking place july 29-30. just think of it: wonderful indie bands, insufferable chicagoan hipsters, the magic futon...it all adds up to an unforgettable weekend.

so, who's in? c'mon!

I'm likely to be headed to see my parents in Michigan sometime in the next few months. With that, I do intend to swing through Chicago.

How about a date? I'll be there for the last weekend in April. Count it!

That Pitchfork festival sounds pretty awesome. I didn't know they were Chicago-based.

Last weekend in April, Kriston? Why, there just happen to be a couple of art fairs going down right about then.

Lollapalooza's supposed to be back again this year, too. Though immediately after last summer's event they were reportedly talking with Dave Matthews Band to headline (no doubt as part of a plea bargain). So, anyways... yay, Pitchfork.

I assure you, my intentions are pure.

Summer in Chicago is most assuredly not lovely.

I went to the first day of the first intonation festival and it was hellish. All the interminable lines for food and self-relief of an ordinary festival setting, PLUS crippling heat and humidity!

well, everyone who i've talked to who is not the prince of darkness and negativity told me that summer in chicago is their favorite season. plus, i'm from the d.c., the swampland where humidity was invented. so i'll probably just find it balmy.
