yay for two of my favorite things being smushed together: britt daniel of spoon will be making an appearance on an upcoming episode of "veronica mars," singing elvis costello's "veronica." nice. rob thomas must be a fan, seeing as earlier this season he used my proclaimed Sexiest Song of 2005, spoon's "i turn my camera on," in a segment where veronica was following around charisma carpenter and taking photographs.

did anyone watch last week's episode? the baby - there's no way it's actually duncan's, right?

Did you see last weeks episode?

yes - that's why i mentioned the B and the D. did something else happen that you think i'm missing?

The VM soundtrack is hot. I love that disc.

I don't know if I think the baby is Duncan's or not. I assume you read the TWoP recaps? Because they have a point with the horrible acting/writing of Duncan's character: one minute he's happily toting around the fake baby, the next he's not really caring so much about what happens to Meg and their offspring... I dunno. All I *do* know is I'm glad they didn't use that whack-ass AOL exclusive alternative ending where they find Veronica holding a pillow over Meg's face. Lame.

Unless I missed something, D's lack of denying B implied ownership to me. But maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.

Posted by: Charles on December 14, 2005 02:07 PM

yeah - D thinks the B is his. but my guess is that it's not - it's something much creepier!

Posted by: catherine on December 14, 2005 02:10 PM

I see what you are saying now. I assume that you think that the creepier choice involves M's dad.

It is nice that we get to talk in code like Middle School girls by the way.

Posted by: charles on December 14, 2005 03:07 PM

heh i know. M's dad, or something more far-reaching, perhaps having to do with the bus crash. i'm not sure how that'd be possible, but if i know anything, it's that rob thomas knows how to tie everything together.

Posted by: catherine on December 14, 2005 03:09 PM

So not D's B. It's like Noel and Ruby in Season 2 of Felicity. Forgive my out-of-date references, I'm still rediscovering the glory of F!

Who thinks M got killed, btw? Blood clot to the heart MY A$$.

Posted by: Kathryn on December 14, 2005 04:30 PM

totally agree! though i'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been her parents, because after the alternate ending that would be too obvious. you know, or maybe she's not dead. could have been spirited away or run away and it's a cover up.

i also wonder if/how grace plays into any of this, what her "test" was she kept talking about.

Posted by: catherine on December 14, 2005 04:33 PM

Good call, Kathryn. It's hard to tell whether D is merely a bad actor or there is some design to his implausible and unconvincing schizophrenia. But I think M died as they say she did. Killing pregnant women is a TV no-no, isn't it? But third-string woman characters dying in (or I suppose near enough to) labor is the economical way to introduce a mysterious baby plotline.

I'm glad that V's Scooby is back.

Posted by: Kriston on December 14, 2005 04:43 PM

I also want to know when V and D are gonna break up already. I mean, she spent New Year's Eve on the couch with her dad! Yes, it meant W could show up on her doorstep at midnight, but still.

I am still trying to figure out why we're going to have a Meg Mystery Baby (MMB, anyone?) so soon after the Trina Echolls Is Dumb (literally) Mary's Prom Baby story line. But I trust in Rob Thomas.

i read L and V are going to be spending a lot of time together the next few eps...yay! but seriously, D is so boring and weird. L may be beyond effed up but i like him and V together.

Posted by: catherine on December 14, 2005 04:53 PM

I'm still waiting for them to slip L's phone number during an episode, a WORKING number, that we can all call to get his inspirational message of the day. That would be sweet.

Kind of like 1-800-CALL-TURK on Scrubs, which the actors occasionally answered as part of their bid for Emmies.

heh, that's a great idea. i always liked the one "adversity is the diamond dust with which heaven polishes its jewels."

sigh. i'm so bummed tonight is a rerun. i think if i remember what i've read correctly there'll be a big twist with some sort of kidnapping coming up.

Posted by: catherine on December 14, 2005 05:04 PM

wait. holy crap. this cannot be. it looks like the next new ep is not till jan 18?!?!?!

Posted by: catherine on December 14, 2005 05:08 PM

Holy Shnikes! No Lost, no VM, only bloggers theorizing and poring over plot points for an entire month.

Posted by: Kathryn on December 14, 2005 05:19 PM

Yeah, we're in for some serious hiatus. At least it didn't end on a true cliffhanger.

I think the B really is D's (M's dad would be just too creepy, even for that messed-up family) but it's so hard to know what to think about D because (as Couch Baron at TWoP says) either his character is too freaking weird to understand or Teddy Dunn is just a horrible actor.

Either way, Duncan bores me. More Logan, please.
