requiem for a jean

posted by catherine / November 22, 2005 /

sigh. i knew it had to happen soon. after nearly two and a half years of constant wearage, the only jeans that ever looked good on me are dying. they're developing tiny holes that, if they become much larger, will soon be quite indecent.

every girl knows the journey that is finding the perfect pair of jeans, and i thought my life-long search had ended that day in nordstrom when i picked up this pair for only $50 (which seems incredibly and laughably low considering what most jeans cost these days). i should have known better. i should have bought six pairs. because i was a fool and thought that particular brand would always be carried by nordstorm. or somebody. anybody.

but they're not. in my crazed internet searches the past few weeks, as my jeans were falling apart before my eyes, i have found nothing. apparently this brand is italian (of course) and generally makes more mens jeans than womens. sigh. so if anybody knows where i can get a pair of boot cut low rise size 5 energie jeans, let me know. otherwise, please pity me with suggestions of jeans that look good on you and don't cost $300. cause i need a new pair.

I believe there's an Energie store on Wisconsin Ave. They could prolly help. Or go to the local jeans impressario: Denim Bar (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?node=cityguide/profile&id=1111488)
Though his stuff tends to be a bit pricey.

oh, every now & then I have spotted a few pairs at Loehmanns, but those were men. not sure about womens

that's the problem - i think they make mostly mens. i dunno why it's so difficult to find energie womens. this wapo thingie says at miss sixty in gtown they carry energie, but for men only - perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

regardless, thanks for the denim bar tip - definitely something to check out.

The Energie site (energie.it) lists that Wisonsin address as their store. So I guess that's it. I didn't remember a specific Energie store in G-Town like that one in South Beach, but then again, I hadn't been looking.

i was always under the impression energie was the (mostly) men's label for miss sixty.

and a little research seems to bear that out. with all those other labels, maybe you could find a similar fit?

ohhhh. interesting! i wonder how i got my hands on a pair of their women's jeans then. well i'll definitely take a close look at what miss sixty has got to offer in lieu of energie when i go shopping today.
