So, as noted in Catherine's DCist post, Butterstick is not an option in the zoo survey. Well god dammit, we'll make it an option. I hereby present a modified name submission form. It'll post to the zoo webserver just like the real form (you might get a security warning). The only difference? We don't hate democracy.
Depending on how badly the survey is coded, there's a slim but real chance this will actually show up in their results.
UPDATE: as noted in comments and more recent posts, the zoo has wised up and fixed their form, making this one no longer work. Still, I think we got our point across.
UPDATE 2: Commenters are now indicating that it's started working again. Weird.

Well, the zoo seems to have gotten wise and fixed the script so that when you send it bad data it goes back to the survey page and asks you to mark one of the allowed selections. So now we just have to write somebody in government and let them know this travesty! I demand my democratic right to vote to name the panda butterstick! I mean, it'd be funny if they'd at least written about it. Instead, they just ignore it. Obviously, they were getting quite a few of the votes for butterstick, so why are they trying to ignore us?
It's all well and good until we are the poor hippies that wake up in 15 years and realize we have a child name Moon Fry, and think, "It seemed like a good idea at the time..."
You should tally up the results and send it to them. If they see how many people want Butterstick, the "cant" ignore us!

I would, but I don't have em. When you hit submit the resulting conversation was purely between your web browser and the zoo's server; zunta.org wasn't involved at all.
I caught mention of this on Wonkeette and immediately came over to vote.

YOU CAN VOTE ANYWAY. Go to the site and pick the least stupid of the Zoo's unimaginative choices. Then put your e-mail address as butterstick@butterstick.com and vote. They'll get the message.
