doin' d.c.
[D.C.]
posted by catherine / August 16, 2005 / when DC SOB left town for chicago, he spent a good chunk of time crossing off items on a list of things to do in d.c. before you go. since i've got nearly a month of unemployment before i head off to the windy city myself, i've been trying to create a list of my own. i've got plenty of time; my two jobless days so far have settled into a nice pattern of waking up around 9:30, going for a run, showering, eating lunch, then drinking wine and surfing the internet. anyway, i'm having a bit of trouble filling out the list. i've only got three items thus far:
i am creatively challenged at this point. can you all offer up suggestions as to what i should do? bonus: i'll blog each item as i do it, WITH PHOTOS!

1. Have cocktails at the Mandarin Oriental's bar.
2. Go to the crazy Byzantine Franciscan Monastery near Catholic. Also: Find Darth Vader on the Cathedral.
3. Have an omakase meal at Sushi Ko.
RE Asylum beer fest: just tell me the date and I'm there. It's a lot of fun. Warning: may result in drunkenly eating at Amsterdam Falafel Shop at 10 PM, just when other people are getting to Adams Morgan.
the falafel thing is good! i haven't eaten there yet, so i'll consider it an addition to the list. and those are all excellent ideas. i'll definitely do the MO bar, and i've been wanting to go to the monastery for a while.
oh, and also: go to eastern market!
you haven't been to eastern market? I think that might be my new hangout area if I can get more peeps to go.
go run up and down the exorcist stairs. i know you used to live near there, but just combine a crazy running workout with a landmark.
Umm... no Eastern Market? Dude, you gotta go. Saturday mornings are the bomb there. Go before your party the 27th and purchase buffalo meats and free range pork sausages from Cibola farms. Just try to get there early... and gimme a call if you're there!
