music friday
there's a thread on the 9:30 club forum about your top five favorite belle and sebastian songs. i was only recently reminded of how much twee ass this band still kicks (when i randomly put on dear catasrophe waitress) so i thought i'd jump in...though it's oh so hard. they have so many good songs.
in no particular order (except maybe the first)...
seeing other people
judy and the dream of horses
the boy with the arab strap
the state i am in
if you're feeling sinister
though i could easily probably pick 15 that i thought were excellent.
for kicks, i'm going to do this with radiohead too, except top 10 cause i can't just pick 5. don't fault me for my lack of post-okc songs. you know it's true in your heart.
the bends
just
stop whispering (the live version)
you
street spirit
paranoid android
let down
idioteque
how to disappear
my iron lung
what do you think?

Comments
Yes, yes, yes, except replace "Seeing Other People" with "Sleep the Clock Around." There is no better tune to listen to when you're doing chores on a Sunday. It just makes everything seem more fun, even scrubbing the toilet.
As for the Radiohead picks -- I'm not really sure how to talk to someone who could disregard Kid A in such a reckless manner. So I guess we're not going to talk anymore. Sorry.
I Might Be Wrong
True Love Waits
Black Star
How Can You Be Sure
Meeting In The Aisle
Knives Out
No Surprises
Thinking About You
Talk Show Host
Big ideas
aw man, how could i have left out true love waits and talk show host? and how can you be sure and black star...goddamn you, radiohead.
sommer: i know, i know :( i just can't help it. i blame it on the fact that i became extremely obsessed with radiohead when was 15 - the bends era - and then saw them a dozen times in concert up through ok computer. by the time kid a came out, i a) just wasn't in that young, easily-obsessed-with-music mindframe any longer b) was angry with them for not living up to the bends and okc, which they couldn't have done anyways, just because of my associations with and feelings about those albums. i still think kid a is pretty good. amnesiac, not so much, and httt is eh.
let down and my iron lung are two of my favorite songs. I've seen both songs live...simply amazing. Good list...
