le weekend
well, well, a weekend report. i haven't done one of these in a long time, primarily because there has been crapall in my life lately to report, unless you want to hear about me constantly being stressed and bitchy - who doesn't want to hear about that?! - but i did a couple of things this weekend that were kind of fun. so onwards, blogging soldiers.
FRIDAY:
fell asleep on the couch. okay, maybe not worth nothing, except that now i am like 185 years old and can rarely go out on fridays any more because i am so zonked from a week of doing nothing at work. poor me. i was meant to go to DC SOB's going away party, and i'm very sad i missed it, but he's moving to chicago and northwestern, where he will hopefully DJ all the hott law school events, and i'll catch up with him there.
SATURDAY:
tommy and i went to saint-ex for lunch, where the waitress immediately told us that we looked very familiar to her. "please don't let it be from the internets," i silently prayed. "that would be so effing embarrassing, god." but she never figured out from where, or at least was kind enough not to point out how we are blog retards. it was a lovely lunch, and the saint-ex burgers are super yummy.
then we biked over to the borf rally in dupont circle. not much to report from there, except it was fun chatting with the anarchist kids. they are SO ADORABLE, or they would be, if i knew it wasn't those little fuckers spray painting the "die yuppies" tags all over my neighborhood. mofos. also, anarchist girls don't shave. what's up with that?
saturday evening we hit dc9 for some mike grass birthday action. many people had joined mike on his birthday bus tour of fun - charles, kyle, natalya, and we (and susan + kriston, later) joined up with them. i heart dc9.
SUNDAY:
spent some time out in arlington, helping the old roomies clean out the place. i dusted a lot of blinds, and sneezed approximately 723 times. after getting home and showering, tommy and i met up with susan and kriston for dinner at galileo. we were going to take advantage of the half-price summer deal and treat ourselves to a well-deserved fancy-pants meal.
well, this was just my second time dining at galileo, but i feel i can now say with some authority: this place is kind of overrated. with the half-price discount, we had a fairly good deal, at ~$90 for three courses and two bottles of wine. but in short, nothing blew me away, and granting that our meal should have been pretty uberexpensive, stuff has got to blow you away at that level. additionally, the service was TOTALLY spotty - it took over half an hour to get our pasta dishes, and they only came out after tommy asked the waiter, "yo bitch, where is my fish ravioli?". my scallops (served as an antipasto) were a bit flavorless, and my manzo, while perfectly cooked, just didn't do it for me. for my pasta course i had: Agnolotti Di Asparagi Con Salsa Al Mascarpone E Piccolo Ragu Mariato All'olio Con Prosciutto, Parmigiano E Basilico/Pillow Pasta filled with Asparagus in a Mascarpone Cheese Sauce served with Prosciutto, Slivers of Parmesan Cheese and Basil Olive Oil, and that was YUMMY, but it was the only part of the meal that was really fantastic, for me anyways. it's a shame. roberto donna's cooking class was a lot of fun, and the meal he made there was amazing, and, as always, the lunchtime grill is off the hook, but my dinners at galileo have just been average, especially for a restaurant that many proclaim is the best italian in d.c. eh. tommy and i went to obelisk for my birthday one year, and that was a billion times better. ah well. they've got a new executive chef, so maybe they're just still figuring things out. but i don't think i'll go back. like i could if i even wanted to. pshaw. i'd have to take out another student loan.
in the coming weeks, i'm dining at dino's, zola, and dc coast, so i'll report back from there. try and stop me.

Totally agree with you on the dinner: it was a fine dinner, but I expected to have food orgasms and like you, only the agnolotti really wowed me. And I was a little annoyed about the service as well; slow, and insufficiently obsequious. Couldn't even understand the waiter half the time; I think he was mumbling. It was a good meal, but not top-of-the-city worthy I think.
I ran into Mike and Kanishka later in the evening in Capitol Hill on Saturday night on one of the later stops of the birthday bus tour! I wasn't around for too long after they got there since it was my first outing after knee surgery.
