The Metro is actually a pretty good place to see a show. I saw Trail of Dead there a couple of months ago and thought it was a nice venue. And it actually gets a ton of good bands to play there.
friends of mine have equated the metro to out 9:30 but I can't confirm since I've never set foot within.
