duh vinci
i don't know what's stupider: that somebody wrote a book called Truth and Fiction in The Da Vinci Code, or that people are willing to pay $125 to watch him speak.

They're going for as much as $5 on eBay.
in the Davinci Code Dan Brown bites someone else's research and presents it in his mildly captivating style in which nothing much is ever revealed but the illusion of a lifting veil is maintained. It is still a historically significant subject and I think it's only fair that a true historian is managing to profit from it. Don't think I'm faulting [the slightly effeminate] Dan Brown though -he's a compelling novelist, by all accounts a very intelligent man, and is certainly more aesthetically pleasing than the George Lucas-like Ehrman- but I can't decide what I'm more sick of: Da Vinci code critics or those who resent them.
i know which one i'm more sick of. if i see another pbs or travel channel special on "behind the da vinci code" i'm going to shoot somebody in the stomach.
