is it more that people are getting sick of the penis jokes, or the fact that she's so incredibly overexposed, winning bloggies left and right and being the mainstream media's go-to-girl for anything blogging-related? i dunno. probably both.

Wonkette's winning a bloggie for anything but "Biggest Hype" or "Most Posts About Assfucking Not By Hot Toddy" just confirmed that no awards show of any kind can maintain its integrity after media exposure. I mean really. She can't write, she's not that hot, and yet people flock to her site?

i don't read wonkette, but she was really funny at that panel discussion we went to last year. even if she were the greatest blogger out there, some haters would still find a reason to dislike her.

I find her blog really boring. So much reading with little, if any, payoff for the time invested. Plus, liberal snarkery just gets REALLY tiresome (though DCeiver seems to be able to keep it interesting)

I think it is, as you say, backlash. Obviously there are things not to like about Wonkette, but it's not like any of it is new. When she was the internet's dirty little secret, she was cool, but now that she's overexposed (or maybe just exposed) bloggers are suddenly tired/offended by it? Sounds fishy to me.

I was one of the first to hate Wonkette -- during her first week, I think. But I'm the first person to hate a lot of things.
