oh dear god
i nearly just simultaneously peed my pants and threw up on my computer monitor upon receiving this email:
Dear Catherine:Congratulations! The Admissions Committee has approved your application to Medill’s Graduate School of Journalism with a concentration in New Media.
Your first quarter in the program will be the “Journalism Methods” package of courses, which is designed for students who have not had professional daily newspaper experience. This quarter consists of a media law and ethics seminar, and intensive work in news writing, beat reporting and copy editing. It is required for approximately 80 percent of our students.
Blah dee blah dee blah blah, buncha other stuff that is probably important, but which i am too delirious to process.
how to pick? the only thing i'm sure of right now is that i'm starting a new blog called "J-school days: the diary of a liberal propagandist-in-training."

How . . . awesome . . . is that? I think that’s definitely worth some vomit and pant-soiling! I am all for a J-school-land diary, by the way. My roommate’s tales of J-school involve lots of taking the train to her beat in Brooklyn, sleeping in the editing suite (she was broadcast-bound), and passing a flask around in ethics lectures. It all sounded much like summer camp . . . only with 30 yr-olds and fewer people in short pants. Congrats are definitely in order!

congrats! on both berkeley and northwestern (it's no u of c, of course, but it'll do). does that mean you'll come to chicago to visit?? you should make tommy and charles come with you, and we can do fun stuff.

yaay! AMAzing!! but let me point out that evanston is not chicago, and u of c can kick northwestern's ass any day.
