American Dad will be replacing Arrested Development

Arrested Development's quality seems to have fallen off a bit this season, but American Dad is an abomination. Unfortunately, Fox executives saw that it drew 15 million viewers in its post-Superbowl debut -- that's way more than the 6 million Arrested Development gets every (non-Superbowl) week! QED.

american dad is literally the worst show i have ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on. nevermind that arrested development is like, good, and has won like, awards and critical acclaim. that is pure crap.

hmmm... I might've been premature posting this. I'm reading elsewhere that 18 episodes is all fox ever ordered from Arrested Development. That run will complete in May, then American Dad will take over. Both could still be in the fall lineup.

I'm very curious to see how america's patience for american dad will hold up with the return of family guy. I'm hoping it won't at all.

and don't forget that last night at 11:30 Cartoon Network played the profoundly disappointing American Dad instead of Futurama.

Well that's just unacceptable. I doubt the nerds will allow that to go on for long.

But Tommy, I also think you're being a bit harsh in your criticism of Arrested Development. I'll grant you that some episodes have faltered as of late, (Martin Short vomiting marks a nadir in my eyes). But several episodes are as sharp as the first season ever was, and it still is far and away the funniest show on network tv.

Martin Short virtually always marks a comedic low point (Three Amigos excepted, of course).

I still really like Arrested Development, but it's become slightly more crass this season, I'd say. On the upside, they've slipped in some pretty filthy sex jokes, so that's a plus.

And Jon: the Futurama preemption is what sparked my ire in the first place (I probably should have mentioned than). Unacceptable!

I'm amazed that networks use after-superbowl ratings as a measure of a show's appeal. Isn't it safe to assume that most of america is too full of cheese dip and beer at that point to bother changing the channel?

...cheese dip and beer. Mmmmmm...
