le fire d'arcade
alright. so things at work have slowed down a tiny bit, and i can present you with some of the selected photos from my sunday evening. but first, may i direct you over to shesbitter.com, where they have got some really great photos of the show in flickr format. check 'em out.
ps: in addition to the reviews trackbacked at my DCist.com arcade fire post, the ghost of gordon sumner has a good review that echoes my feelings about the two new songs played right in a row: they slowed down the night unnecessarily. but only for a little bit.
pps: look also at these great concert photos i found via the 9:30 club forum.
first we went over to kriston's for an indie rock arcade fire bbq. because there ain't nothing that goes together like indie rock and smoked meat. tommy made cornbread, and i brought my pecan-chocolate chip cookies of freedom and threw together a spinach-mandarin orange-pecan-blue cheese-red onion-raisin salad with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing. so fancy!
but the piece de resistance was the meat that kriston and susan had been smoking for, like, TWELVE HOURS LITERALLY:
kriston wields the knife of meat death.
CHOP!

delizioso!

wreck was sad he couldn't have his own plate. haha, suck it, dog.
some selected concert photos:

and tommy, kriston, susan walking the two blocks from the club to kriston's house.

I also wish they had worked in their Talking Heads cover, but really, that's nitpicking. This was like the Inaugural Ball for hipsters.
Your going to give someone a seizure with that grey line background. Checkout the page on a 140 DPI monitor or better and you will see what I mean.
we view it on LCDs mostly, which is as contrast-y a display technology as you can get. but I do appreciate that a lot of folks probably don't like it.
Glad that you liked my photos...yours are great as well.
