of tacos and mimosas

one new year's resolution that i made to myself was that i would try to be better in my 25th year about documenting my life in photos. i mean, i lead such a fascinating existence that i feel i owe it to my readers to present it in more visual terms so they can be that much more jealous of the fabulousness of it all. so, behold behind the fold: the weekend in breakfast tacos and the black cat. unphotographed, fortunately for all involved: hours of dance dance and karaoke revolution.

the lovely susan, kriston and matt came over to our place saturday morning for a birthday! breakfast! taco! celebration of sorts. kriston's breakfast tacos are renowned - i'm not sure of all exactly that goes into them, but it involves fresh salsa, eggs, and chorizo. yum. mimosas, coffee, and beer accompanied it all, along with an agua fresca that tommy made, somewhat assisted by matt. they are two very intelligent boys, but they could not, for the life of them, figure out how to a) work a food processor b) follow a recipe.

of course, us being who we are, there were, at any given time, 2/3 of the group on computers.

the beautiful tulips with which i was presented.

kriston does his thing.

later that night, after the revolutions and a brief trip to fusebox to check out ian whitmore's exhibit (he's the smartest artist in d.c. right now, i'm told. i say that only because that's what someone else who is smart about art told me, and i was afraid i might get asked at the show what i thought of the art, so i was prepared to say "oh! he's definitely the smartest artist in d.c. right now"), we attended the bluestate DJ collective at the black cat. it was a really great time, and well attended. highlights of the sets were a mashup of "99 red balloons" and "99 problems," as matt notes, and this surprisingly great cover of britney spears' "toxic" by Local H. a few photos:

kanishka, myself, and kyle.

early this afternoon i met up with the ever-growing DCist staff at the newly-opened tallula in arlington for bruch. it really was excellent, although i had enough mimosas between this morning and yesterday to certify that my blood is now 1/5 OJ and champagne.

hey! we could figure out how to follow a recipe. we just chose not to for some reason. it worked out fine, though, and we had all the weird honeydew liquid we cared to drink.

Oh, dude . . . it appears that Gringo Loco has supped on a few too many of his own creations. To the gym, damnit!
