the matrix devolution
One of the great cultural mysteries of the past few years has got to be the Matrix movies. How the Wachowski brothers produce a genre-defining first movie of a trilogy, then turn around and create two debacles that all but erased the achievement of the original film?
Well, here's a potential explanation: they stole the idea. Instead of reclusive geniuses, they're really just navel-gazing, cross-dressing hack thieves. A woman named Sophia Stewart has won a case against the brothers Wachowski, claiming that she submitted a screenplay upon which the Matrix was based to an ad calling for sci-fi scripts placed by the Wachowskis years ago. Here's the most damning paragraph from the article, in case you don't feel like registering with the site:
According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that "credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers." These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart's original work and that it had been "often used during preparation of the motion pictures." The defendants tried, on several occasions, to have Stewart's case dismissed, without success.
Obviously Larry and Andy aren't without talent -- Bound wasn't bad, and the Matrix movies are impressive technical achievements. But the franchise was clearly unable to live up to the cool premise that made the first movie so much fun -- I find this to be a pretty plausible explanation for why the series' quality fell so quickly.
Oh, and as to why you haven't heard of this case before? Stewart claims it's because Time Warner owns so much of the media. I'm not sure about that -- but on the other hand, if this is true it's a pretty major copyright infringement case, and I can't find any references to it on Google News, despite a lot of online message board discussion about the case.

Dark-haired, young, white male computer programmer: How far down this rabbit hole do you want to go?
It's actually just a blair witch style campaign to drum up interest in the Brothers W future flick about lesbian lovers that outwit a Joel Silver-esque movie producer.
A friend of mine called The Matrix a "dumb man's thinking-man's movie", and while it's one of my favorites, I tend to agree. As such, I didn't find anything wrong with the other two. They aren't as good, but not everything can be Godfather II. You have to just go in expecting Return of the Jedi.
It also borrowed rather heavily from "Dark City" and from any number of Dick stories.

Moral of the story: Don't believe everything you read, especially when the writing calls Matrix fans "strangely loyal" for ... what? For waiting for the *outcome* of the lawsuit (which, despite the press release the SLCC apparently printed without fact-checking, has *not* been resolved yet) to decide who was telling the truth?

The bit about her looking for an alternate version of the film with an intro text, barter for programs instead of money, and the white rabbit on arm of the girl before the club scene...is even weirder.

I know that alot of people out there think this woman is a fraud. But now that I think about it, I can see where the two movies would be one story. I can see where the matrix would be the second part of the two franchises and the terminator 1&2 would be the first part as well as the animatrixes story about how the machines took over the earth. I can see all that being one story. All the Warner Brothers did was take her script and turn it into a 2 franchises that made them billions of dollars.
I know people doubt she wrote the Terminator because she didn't file a lawsuit in the 1980's. Maybe she did try to go after Warner Bros originally but Warner Bros is so powerful in the media and industry, they have enough money to keep this whole thing quiet for years. Doesn't anybody find it strange that Warner Bros would also produce the Matrix years later after The Terminator? Isnt it strange that James cameron wanted no part of T-3. He fed some crap about the script not being good but I think he didn't want no envolvement with the lawsuit. Plus, Sophia obviously had enough evidence to back up her claim, because the FBI had to get involved. The Warchowski brothers didnt take that script to Warner Bros. WB already had it. They took part of it for the premise for the Terminator. They just gave Warchowski Bros the money to shoot the Matrix.
Just face it, A woman wrote a script which turned into two wonderful epics. And as a woman, it angers me that a male dominated industry couldn't even give this woman her due. They had to go and steal it from her without compesation. I'm wondering if WB didn't want the world to know that a woman could creativliy write a piece of work that would make Hollywood Billions of dollars is the reason as to why they are keeping this whole thing quiet. Because if this ever got on the 6 o clock news then it would enlighten the minds of people around the world and show them that women are capable of changing how movies are viewed.
Hollywood steals scripts and copyrights all the time from screenwriters and never give the writers their due.
Sophia Stewart wrote those scripts clean and clear. Read her book "The Third Eye" here http://churchofthematrix.org/THETHIRDEYEscreenplay.htm and read about things that might blow your mind away too here http://www.churchofthematrix.org/
Anyways, I just want to thank Mr. Sophia Stewart főr introducing us all to that world, even though she got no credits for her hard work, some of us still acknowledge and admire her greatly.
