albums

i already knew that my dad rocks, but now you all can, too. he's provided me with a list of a few albums he's willing to part with in order to rake in some sweet, sweet marine corps fundraising money. if you're interested in purchasing any of the ones listed, shoot me an email; otherwise i'll be sending them along to ebay in about a week. since this list includes about 50 albums and my dad owns about, oh, two zillion, more installments will be forthcoming.

remember, this money is not for the "send catherine to paris" fund, or anything of that ilk. (don't i wish.) it's for getting rid of cancer. so buy yourselves some music for a good cause. tax-deductible, natch.

update: the zappa albums have been taken.

PS: who the hell are the fugs? i just noticed my dad is asking $200 for one of their albums (even though it's valued at $400). jeez.

update again: a few more albums have been claimed. i'll just change the list itself to reflect what is still available. $70 has already been raised through purchases! you too can a) get some great vinyl albums b) help fundraise money for cancer research and c) make my mom really happy by helping my dad to clean out the stacks and stacks of records that have lived in our basement for years.

Wow, kick ass albums! I'm definitely claiming some of those. I'll pass this along to our vinyl-collecting friend and see if he wants any as well...

the fugs were/are a fantastic lower east side band who were contemporaries of VU. Poet Ed Sanders was leader of the Fugs (name taken from Norman Mailers word for fuck) and was also part of the Chicago 7. If you havent you should find the Fugs second album. The song Kill for Peace is as important now as it was then. Allen Ginsberg co-wrote some of the bands early songs.

The fugs put out an album last year that is nothing like the sex and drug filled albums they put out in the early days but it does go right at Bush when they sing: destabilize the middle east/enrich the CEOs.
