more completely random and vaguely chronological italy pictures...no flowers, i promise.

eurospinvino.jpg this is some wine at the EUROSPIN extraordinaire. it's a discount grocery store right around the corner from my old apartment. it's kind of dirty and sketchy and sometimes they sell underwear or computers, but you can't beat the wine prices. seriously. this is the EXPENSIVE wine. and it's actually all really good. except for the jugs of wine. never buy the jugs of wine from the eurospin. you may think you are getting a deal, but you are actually buying liquid rubber. we bought some for a party at the beginning of the year and felt so guilty about actually serving it to the guests that we hid it. it stayed in our apartment for the rest of the year, because the jug was too heavy to really move. so gross.

polizia.jpg
here are some policemen in their super awesome raincoats in front of the massive castello sforezsco. i stalked them for like 10 minutes before i could finally get off a semi-decent shot. i'm glad they didn't catch me. they probably would have thrown me in prigione.

tomcathnat.jpg
here's tommy, myself and la bella natania (former roommate in italy, still working at the school, going to the bank street school of education next year at columbia) on friday night in milan (hanging out at some of the new interns' apartment). you wouldn't know it from this picture, but we are three sheets to the wind. we had just returned from a happy hour at this milanese bar, b4, which is pretty much as chi-chi as the name implies. happy hours in italy are fantastic. you pay $5 for whatever drink you want, and then you get to go attack the massive amounts of food they lay out for you. for free! you keep paying about $5 for whatever drinks you keep ordering, but the food stays out until 10pm, and you can go back as many times as you want. and it's really really good. so anyway, at this particular happy hour, i'd ingested maybe like six gintonicas, and then the interns were having a wine-drinking party, so we totally thought it'd be a great idea to go have a few glasses. not such a great idea the next morning on the train!

rioceramics.jpg
some ceramics in the town of riomaggiore in the cinque terre. pretty!

manarolacliff.jpg
another shot of manarola, the town where we stayed in the cinque terre. i love the cinque terre. in case you couldn't tell. a good site about it is here, if you're interested.

firenzeatnight.jpg
the baptistry, the duomo, and the campanile in florence at night, all in one spectacularly grainy shot.

tommygaidello.jpg
and here is tommy as we sat down to a fantastic meal at the villa gaidello. the restaurant is actually located in what used to be a horse stable. i'd like to note that tommy is wearing a nice linen shirt he bought a florence market, and looks perfectly normal, which is rare in photos. he needs to try harder.
