the oscars
i'm still swimming in work over at one dupont circle, so i can't ramble about the oscars for as long or as bitchily as i'd like to. we hosted a small oscars party at our house last night, to go along with the oscar pull 2004 (tm). people came to our arlingtonian house from as far as d.c. (susan and kriston) and charlottesville (allie and scott) to drink, gamble, and bitch about the dresses.
as far as couture: i was a little bit disappointed in what the starlets were wearing this year. i didn't see any dresses that blew my mind BAHH IMAGES REMOVED BECAUSED OF ALL THE ANNOYING GOOGLE SEARCH IMAGES REFERRALS 12/24/05
and that is my hard-hitting fashion analysis.
as for the real awards: i guess i would have won the oscar pull if i had guess that LOTR would win EVERY SINGLE FREAKING AWARD it was nominated for. eleven in all, as it turned out. but i did not guess in that manner, and also gambled on supporting actress; i didn't pick renee, but instead the iranian woman from the house of sand and fog. and i paid for it. oh well. lots of booze was drunk, theater candy was eaten, and snarkiness abounded. becca ended up winning, i came in second, and kriston made a near-win comeback despite a shaky start. overall, bravissima evening. go oscars.

I just hope that our celebrity overlords were placated by the awards, and in return will ensure a bountiful harvest this year.
In honor of my pick for Best Supporting Actress not winning, I wrote a song.
Sho - Reh
She's from Iran
Across the desert that is filled with sand
And she loves
Screw Screw Screwing me over
renee, she's not so pretty
i can't understand why she's so in demand
she squints a lot and she's not so bitty
this time, this time
well, not nearly as inspired as scott's, but i tried
I'm totally frustrated by last night's stunning upset. The Academy owes both Bill Murray and me. I've got a big Howard Dean/BoSox complex now that's not going to go away.
Uma's dress looks like it came off of Mugatu's "Derelicte" line.
Sorry I didn't make the oscar bash, I was coaching my basketball team to an agonizing 3 point defeat.
I listen to Radio Free Europe's Russia broadcast while at work, and for some reason they are playing that shitty Annie Lennox song over and over and OVER. I have no idea why because I can't understand what they are saying.
i should have picked the lotr song. i think i knew instinctively that sting was the wrong way to go, especially after i witnessed the way he manhandled his instrument.
Yeah, I hear Sting can manhandle his instrument for days at a time.
Thanks for making me laugh.
umm...yeah, I should've won. But, the money went to a cool gal, who claims she has never won anything before. so there you go. gambling is not evil. hehe
