this seems to be to be a good entry on "the passion of the christ", rather, not on the movie specifically, but about what it's based on and the events surrounding it, and why some people have taken issue with the way it was made.

The entire movie is focused on his last twelve hours of life, picking up after the Last Supper, skipping almost entirely every important piece of his ministry. A movie about Jesus' life that included an extremely graphic portrayal of his death as just one part of the film would be more theologically consistent, more accurate, and more compelling.

and with that, "the passion" has officially become the movie i've talked about most without having actually seen. and that should stop. so if i by chance see it sometime, i'll write about it, but i'm being stupid by discussing it even further with no basis to go on.

so i'm going to talk about another bunch of movies i haven't seen -- most of the oscar films! i have to fill out a like 32 entry ballot for the oscar pull, and i've basically only seen lord of the rings. i might not do so well this time around. we shall see. let me know if you're interested in gambling on movies avec moi.

i feel any smidgen of credibility i might be grasping on to could be ripped to shreds by me posting something speculative and ridiculous from the naples daily news of all places..but what the hell, who am i kidding, i have no credibility anyways.

does fox news know where bin laden is?

okay, i really can't believe i'm putting that up.

  • kriston hassles bob novak. i died laughing.
  • this supercool 6,214 mile highway is finally open, making it possible to drive from europe to asia. vacation, anyone? that’s totally what i’m doing, well, except after i go to italy this spring. and then i’ve got to visit jessica in hong kong. and also i want to do this provencial french gite house thing that i read about in the WP travel section where it only costs $300/week to rent a country cottage for four and pretend you’re a rustic french peasant a la marie antoinette.
  • oh, that reminds me: jessica put up some beautiful pictures of india and a wedding she attended there. check them out.
  • you think bush is bad...imagine if he were president AND owned the yankees.
  • speaking of corrupt italians...shit is hitting fan in the massive parmalat scandal. parmalat is a huge italian food distributor. i realize no one cares about this except me. and hell, i hardly care about it. italians being corrupt? big deal!
  • alright, why not, another italian news item -- the uffizi gallery is doubling its exhibition space in 2006. i think this is probably a good thing, as the space they've got right now is kind of small and windy and confusing and crowded.

in other news: be careful what you wish for! just last week i was whining about not having enough work, and yesterday and today i am slizzammed. slizzammed, yup. it's debatable whether or not more work would lead to more blog posting, though, in a desperate attempt to avoid doing real stuff. we shall see.

also, i'm meeting jenkuo (she of trivia night periodical table superpowers) for drinks tonight in dupont, if anyone is interested. big hunt has $2 rail drinks. yum.
