  • The District's Jewish Community Center has started a series of embassy events that follow the familiar pattern: a talk with ministerial representatives, a short film presentation and a reception. February finds the JCC at the Embassy of Italy, talking about culture and art of cities like Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples and Palermo, then sampling Italian wines at a walk-around reception. Tickets are $25 ($15 for DCJCC members) and reservations are required. Feb 24, 7pm.

  • GARY BAKER PRESENTS "Murano: Glass from the Olnick Spanu Collection" Feb. 25. Thiis exhibition, organized and circulated by Exhibitions International, NY, features nearly 300 pieces of Venetian glass, all made in the 20th and 21st centuries, originally selected by glass scholar Marino Barovier from the outstanding collection of Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu of New York. (i dunno. looking at glass seems kind of boring)

  • Sicilian Puppet Theater and the Tuscan-Emilian Epic Maggio in a lecture by Prof. Jo Ann Cavallo, Georgetown University, Feb. 26 (i don't know about you, but i'm always down for italian puppetry)

  • italian language tour of the nga, saturday, march 13, 12pm and 2pm

  • TIMELESS EXPERIENCE: an Architectural Journey Through Itria, Italy" Photographs by Rajesh Nair. The American Institute of Architects Headquarters Gallery. (dude, he photographs TRULLI!)

also a big thing on campania coming in april, including the history of pizza. mmm. and other food stuff. too bad it's all like $115 for a ticket to one event.
