hey, look at this:

http://thehill.com/news/020504/leak.aspx

i was just thinking about that story today and lamenting the fact that it had disappeared from any media anywhere. i can't believe someone is actually taking the heat for it. though i guess they're just sacrificing this guy with hopes that the pressure will come off. but i'm like, what pressure? i haven't seen news about this for over a week.

and with that, it's the weekend! have a good one.

from thehill.com, via wonkette.com:

Care to taste a “Dean’s Scream”? Or an “Irreverent Reverend”? Then head to the Garden Terrace Lounge at the Four Seasons in Georgetown, where the bar has introduced a line of cocktails based on the Democratic presidential candidates. The candidate whose drink sells the most during a week will be the poll winner...

• Wild Wild Wes (Chivas Royal Salute and clove orange) — Gen. Wesley Clark

• Dean’s Scream (vanilla vodka, rum and coconut purée) — Gov. Howard Dean

• Johnny E. Good (vodka and Hpnotiq liqueur) — Sen. John Edwards

• Kerry Catch Up (tequila, Cointreau, fresh raspberries and lime) — Sen. John Kerry

• Ku Ku Who (passion-fruit purée, vodka and lime) — Rep. Dennis Kucinich

• Cup A’ Joe (vanilla vodka, Bailey’s Irish Cream, decaffeinated coffee) — Sen. Joe Lieberman

• Irreverent Reverend (vodka, white and black Godiva liqueur and chocolate shavings) — the Rev. Al Sharpton

i'm sorry, but we HAVE to go and try these drinks out. despite the fact that they probably cost $14 each. i think the cup a' joe one sounds really good, though i don't know why they use decaf coffee. mainly, though, the ingredients for each candidate remain a mystery to me. like, kerry's seems way too fruity. perhaps a bloody mary type mix, instead? dean's - way too tropical for a guy from vermont. unless they're trying to attempt an angry tropical storm type thing. oh. maybe they're referencing the perfect storm. haha. i think i'm overanalzying. i'm pretty sure cocktails don't work on so many levels. and edwards - Hpnotiq liquer? what IS that? it sounds like it belongs at a rave or something.

i'm probably excited about these cocktails because i just imbibed at lunch. i know, on the clock and everything. but some coworkers and i went out to lunch at mimi's, and they had half-price cocktails, and a few of us couldn't resist, and ...*hiccup*

snazzy-ish new template. you like? eh? you like? i plan on adding a blog roll thingy soon.

anyone care to fill me in on the walkmen? pitchfork gave their latest, bows and arrows, a fantastic review. not that i put all my faith in pitchfork. but i am so old and lame and hopelessly out of the cool music loop that i've got to rely on something. besides my college-aged brother who is now the cool music sibling. the pupil becomes the master.

there are many terrible things in the news today that i could write about, including a subway bombing, a couple of natural disasters and the discovery of a kidnapped eleven-year old's body. but, you know, i'm just not up to processing that stuff this morning. it's too rainy and cold and gloomy to focus on depressing events nation- and world-wide. yeah. turns out "radiation vibe" is only a temporary panacea.

man, i am in a terrible mood, and looking at the job report is not going to help. let's think of ways i can cheer myself up this weekend:

-researching grad schools in the south and california; forget the possibility of staying in d.c. or going to boston
-happy hour tonight? tropical drinks? delusion?
-helping becca's mom move; good deeds are, you know, good
-italian dinner and lots of chianti with tommy saturday night at obelisk
-meet the press with bush sunday morning; i'm hoping that tim russert won't go squishy on w. but i guess he will. it is incredibly sad to know that i could probably ask better questions than russert will.
but i'm holding out hope. look at those piercing devil eyes and intellectually furrowed brow:

anyway, i think the tape is being recorded saturday and played sunday. perhaps russert is afraid that if he asks the big questions, the whole thing will be canned.

OH MY GOD SO UNFAIR: i see now that wilco AND the flaming lips signed on to coachella. could this be the best concert festival EVER? and i cannot go. yet another thing to be pissy about.
