buongiorno.

i would just like to announce something that became clear to me over the weekend but that has yet to be revealed to the public:

i am apparently god's chosen political oracle.

i'm not making this stuff up. sunday night, after spending a fun weekend in charlottesville and having studied some for the math section of the gres -- basically avoiding any political news -- i had a dream. yup. i rarely remember dreams, but this one was crystal clear. in this dream, john kerry won the iowa caucus. this dream can be confirmed by tommy, because as he got up at 7:30am monday to go to work (whereas i was still sleeping in due to mlk day), it was the first thing i blurrily said to him. thereby confirming the whole chosen political psychic/oracle thing. man. someone should hire me to advise their campaign.

of course, in the dream, john kerry was also somehow my father, but we'll move past that point.

anyway, keep tabs here for the nh primary, and the oracle will let you know. this newfound psychic ability of mine is REAL, reliable predicting, guys, not stupid blog-predicting (and i am having an awful lot of fun watching all the bloggers backtrack and eat their words).

i've basically come to the decision that while political blogs are fun to read for the writers' opinions and analysis of issues, the whole prediction thing is a huge load of crap. like i said in my earlier post, no one has any idea. and i don't think they should really try to guess. the problem with blogs, it seems to me, is that it's a completely insular, self-referential world and no one bothers to try to figure out what actual voters on the outside are thinking. another problem with blogs is that all bloggers have enormous egos (as in they think their thoughts deserve to be read and considered by large number of people) and have convinced themselves that they will always be right.

so anyway, i am super happy for kerry because i like him, though i have to admit i remain uncertain on his electability. edwards seems like a nice guy too, with a good message, good looks and good charisma, but he is a pretty big lightweight. i guess we'll know by march, and then hopefully everyone who's a democrat will throw all their weight behind the nominee. i'd like to volunteer for the nominee's campaign, if anyone wants to join me.

however, i refuse to get my hopes up about the general election. lower expectations are always better...then you don't get too disappointed. yup. i'm off to a hot mexican lunch. hopefully my face won't fall off from the cold, like it did this morning.

ciao,
your friendly psychic

Are you going to volunteer to do the type of stuff we did in HS or are you going to quit your job and hope for a political appointment after the election?

i'm going to quit my job and become first lady! or something. no, probably just the type of stuff we did in high school. i'll check out the nominee's website and see what i can do.
